Delphos Jefferson High School Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones and other non school issued electronic devices are prohibited during the academic day from 8:10 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. This policy is in place to promote student focus, academic engagement, and a positive learning environment.
To support a focused and distraction-free learning environment, Delphos Jefferson High School has established the following cell phone expectations:
Upperclassmen (Juniors & Seniors)
Students must keep them stored in their Chromebook pouch at all times during the school day. Cell phones are not to be used in classrooms, hallways, or the cafeteria. Exceptions may be made for students with documented IEP accommodations, monitoring a documented health condition, and/or academic purposes at the discretion of the classroom teacher.
Underclassmen (Freshmen & Sophomores)
Students must keep their cell phones secured in their locker or at home during the school day. Cell phones should not be carried on their person. Exceptions may be made for students with documented IEP accommodations, monitoring a documented health condition, and/or academic purposes at the discretion of the classroom teacher.
All Students
- Cell phones may not be used to record, photograph, or video any student or staff member without prior consent.
- The policy includes tablets, earbuds, headphones, smartwatches.
Consequences for Cell Phone Violations
Failure to follow the cell phone policy will result in progressive disciplinary action:
- First Offense: Cell phones will be confiscated and held in the main office until the end of the school day.
- Second Offense: Cell phone confiscated in the office and assignment to Saturday School.
- Third and Subsequent Offenses: Cell phone confiscated only returned to parent. Progressive suspension, up to and including out of school suspension, in accordance with district discipline guidelines.
